We examined how much exercise is needed to offset our favorite snacks & meals - The Burgers.
The fitness equation is simple enough: calories in versus calories out. After you’ve worked up a sweat on training, you should have gained the license to treat yourself to a snack afterward. In practice, math is difficult to get right.

We have chosen again our favorite location, Klöntalersee. The weather was cloudy with a 90% probability of rain shower but we decided to take the challenge regardless of the weather conditions.
This time we decided different activity - Mountain Biking. The challenge is to go around the lake and get back to starting position. Seems like an easy task, at least at the very beginning of the track. The length of the track is 12.6 km and the elevation gain is around 528 m.
We brought Santa Cruz Blur LT2c - full carbon and Scott Spark mountain bikes. After mounting the bikes safely to the car, we started our journey towards Klöntalersee.
The starting location was right before the camping site where we parked the car.
The very beginning was easy, but as we progressed, the track started to become more demanding.
At certain points, we needed to stop and continue on foot because the track did not have enough width in order to have a safe ride.
Some points were even completely blocked and made us spend more than 20 minutes finding the way to bypass it.
Somewhere around ⅓ of the route, we came across a beautiful waterfall. We were amazed by it. The breathtaking waterfall - Darlibachfall made us speechless… We decided to take a break in this place and to enjoy the view.
The Middle Point.
After a short break, we continued our ride towards the middle point of our track. Right at the middle point, we entered the normal road where we finally got a chance to rest while driving.
The Rain Shower.
As expected, right before the completion of our journey the rain started to shower. It's been a while since the moment we got completely wet during the rain shower. Since we brought secondary clothes, we did not bother a lot about being completely wet.
The Experiment - Success or Failure?
2 hours of mid-intensity mountain cycling burns from 1200 to 2000 calories depending on the weight, age, and gender, rolling resistance, surface terrain, tread pattern, intensity, wind… Let's take the middle range of 1500 calories. Two of us burned around 3000 calories during our cross-country route.
On the other hand, 4 burgers with all addons have around 1600 calories. Adding few beers and a dessert, the total calories intake is around 2000 calories.
We succeeded to make restaurant-quality burgers using CampArca in no time. Complete gastronomic experience in near one of the most beautiful Swiss lakes.
We managed to spend an amazing time during our cycling tour and to enjoy a bombastic meal without the fear of gaining weight.
