Last weekend we decided to visit one of our favorite places for hiking, biking, and camping – Klöntalersee.
Table of contents [Show]
Klöntalersee is a natural lake in the canton of Glarus, Switzerland, and covers the major part of the Klöntal valley floor. Since 1908, it has been used as a reservoir for electricity production. Situated at an 848m elevation point, it’s perfect for various activities throughout the year.
After parking our car, we decided to take a nice walk around the lake. We headed towards Camping Vorauen which was around 5km from the center point of the lake.
Beautiful nature woke some nice memories of past camping experiences at this amazing Swiss lake.
Unfortunately, the camping was completely occupied. The second camping place Camping Güntlenau was totally occupied as well. The only option we had was to find the perfect spot for parking the car, in nature, with the best view.
Finding a perfect spot to park the car in nature while making sure we do not miss the rules and regulations of camping is quite challenging. Luckily, we succeeded!
We parked on a one-way road which is around 250m above lake level (1100m above sea level) and started to unpack camping equipment. First, we took out CampArca, the ultimate all-in-one camping kitchen, and camping chairs. Camping table we did not need since CampArca has side extensions that work as a perfect table for 2 persons.
I promised a coffee on arrival, and I kept my promise! It took me less than 3 minutes to boil the water and over 1000m altitude and to make perfect camping coffee. At this height the boiling temperature is below 100 degrees- at 96 Celsius, the water already starts to boil.
As the sun was fading out behind the beautiful mountains, Patricija decided to prepare tea.
The perfect combination was Noir (Night) tea + tea cookies “Čajni kolutići” together!
Bye, until next time.
This is why we are going to this amazing place whenever we can. And yes, next time we will show what types of food do we prepare on wild camping sites.
